Welcome to Holly-weird..

To get started on our Hollywood adventure, we drove down the PCH to Santa Monica passing by the very popular Santa Monica Pier. If we had scheduled more time in the day or left a little earlier in the morning, I would have loved to go on a couple rides or even walk around. Alas, we were on a tight schedule.

Next, we drove down Sunset Blvd and passed Brentwood. This is the town where OJ Simpson murdered Nicole Brown Simpson. Actually, he was found not guilty. How is that still a cold case?

Anyway, we passed the west entrance to Bel Air next, all the while keeping an eye out for the Fresh Prince. Oy vey, even I'm rolling my eyes. We drove down Wilshire and Beverly hills lined with luxury high rise apartments and passed through Westwood into Beverly Hills. You know you've passed into Beverly Hills when you start seeing Saks Fifth Avenue and crystal shops on every corner.

We turned on the Rodeo Drive and you could smell the wealth in the air. The question is though how all these store fronts stay open when the majority of the people walking the streets are tourists! Continuing down the road, you pass from high end shops to huge houses. Eliza remembered from the last time she was in LA that Denzel Washington's house was on this road. If only we could have seen him doing some yardwork!

We drove down the Sunset Strip passing clubs like The Roxy and The Viper Room. We stopped for lunch around here and I got a kale salad because I'm so LA!

We drove down Hollywood Blvd and started to see the iconic images that you automatically think of when thinking of Hollywood. Things like the Chateau Marmont, The Beverly Hills Hotel, the Walk of Fame, The Chinese Theater, The Roosevelt Hotel, and finally the Hollywood sign!

A jam-packed day of sight would not quite be complete if we didn't get stuck in LA traffic on our way back to Hermosa Beach. All part of the experience, am I right?

No traffic, though as we left Hermosa and headed to Laguna Hills where Eliza's cousins live. Apparently, Taco Tuesday is a huge deal in Laguna Hills, so Eliza's oldest cousin took us out for the night, first for some food and then to a Chili's on crack that was packed with twenty-somethings. Eliza and I are both like 42 at heart (maybe more so me than her) and we don't often go to bars or clubs. And if we do go to bars, it's after work at 11:30pm, in our dirty uniforms, begging for the kitchen to stay open so we can get some french fries and kebabs. So, needless to say, we were a bit out of our element. As a team, we talked awkwardly to only each other as her cousin tried to introduce us to her friends. I danced awkwardly and tried to make Eliza laugh with my Miranda impression. We had a lot of fun! Seriously.

Stay tuned for more Laguna Hills and my sendoff to my co-pilot!
