Columbus, oHIo

A frankly dreary day welcomed me into Columbus. What started off as a drizzle soon became a heavy rain. Nothing will stop me, though. I'm on a mission.

My first stop was what I like to call The Hammer of Justice. Also, By the Hammer of Thor. In actuality, it's the World's Largest Gavel, located right outside the very regal looking Supreme Court of Ohio. Genuinely, when I googled things to do in Columbus, this was one of two results. I think it's not a very touristy town. Which is fine because that keeps everything the way it should be.

Next was the walk down to the German Village. A really nice walk considering the rain. I passed by quite a few sculptures and the Columbus Commons where it looked like a concert was being set up.

An endearing village inside the city, it is full of adorable row houses and mini Dutch cottages. Speckling the streets are coffee shops, deli's, and European home goods and gift shops.

The rain drove me into one deli called Katzinger's. It was absolutely packed and I understand why. The menu was huge. I chose a sandwich called the Big Bob's Belly Buster, because why not? It has corned beed and pastrami, cole slaw and russian dressing on rye. Because I wanted to full deli experience, I got a Dr. Brown's Cream Soda and, a little taste of home, Deep River Sea Salt and Vinegar Chips. All topped of with a homemade dill pickle. "Help yourself to the pickles," they say after you've paid. That means, have as many as you want, within reason. Two big barrels full of both dill and garlic pickles. Delish!

After lunch, I figured that was all that needed to be seen in Columbus, so I started my drive to Detroit. My wonderful sister, who knows me so well told me about a jerky utopia outside of Toledo on the way towards Detroit. While no one needs that much sodium in their life, I was so glad I stopped.

An unhealthy amount of jerky later, traffic was booming about an hour outside of the city, so rather than head into the city, I headed towards the hotel saving Detroit for a new day!
