Cleveland, You're Great.

Just as a heads up, this post is mostly pictures. And there are a lot of them! I post so many so you can feel like you're on the trip with me! I hope you enjoy.

The night before at Great Lakes Brewing Co., I met I nice business man who was excited to hear about my trip. He told me about great places I should see across the country, and being from the Bay area, he had no shortage of great suggestions. He asked me what I was here to see in Cleveland and I told him that I was planning to go to Wade Park. "You must mean Wade Oval. Within a city block is the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Cleveland Natural History Museum, the Cleveland Botanical Gardens, and Severance Hall, home of the Cleveland Orchestra," he said. I had a full day ahead of me.

It was a beautiful day. All the humidity from the day before had disappeared. Well done, Cleveland. I started at the Cleveland Museum of Arts. I love art museums so much and this one was no exception. Literally something from every decade all the way back to 10000 B.C. and something from every country. Not only paintings, but sculptures, photography, and relics, it was easy to spend two and half hours there.

If I ever went to the Kentucky Derby, I'd wear this hat.

Or this one. And I'd never be asked back.

Next was the Cleveland Natural History Museum. Definitely geared towards children, but what am I if not a child....

This picture is really only for my mother. She really wanted to see a monkey.

Sassy cat.
I thought the feathers coming out of its neck were its arms. I really wanted them to be its arms.

This is Lucy! The earliest evidence of homosapien!

Last tour of the day was the Cleveland Botanical Garden. Frankly, I wasn't expecting much, but I'm really glad I was wrong. And what a perfect day to be walking through the various herbs, themed, cultural, and rose gardens. It's kind of hard to see, but there were butterflies flying everywhere!

Last stop of the day was Severance Hall. Unfortunately, it was closed so I couldn't see what it was like inside but the outside, as you can see was really beautiful. A quick walk around the park led me back to my car. To basically make a giant circle took 6 hours. It was awesome!

Googling where you should eat in any given place can sometimes be the worst plans. I really think Cleveland can do no wrong. I drove over to the Tremont neighborhood and sat down at the bar at Fat Cats. A cute space with ample seating and walls that could probably tell a few stories. After my long day, mama needed a drink. I chose the Oaxacan Cooler: mezcal, st. germain, honey syrup, lemon and grapefruit juice. Stupid good. The food was amazing! I chose off of the happy hour menu and got a chickpea taco, shrimp tempura, and two pork belly steamed buns. Honestly, I wish I had some of those steamed buns now. And there are no pictures because I inhaled them. Let me just reassure you, Fat Cats is the place to be in Cleveland.

Several people that I talked to said they like that people think Cleveland is just the middle of nowhere, boring city. It keeps all the weirdos from coming in, keeps locally owned businesses running, and keeps the city beautiful. I can honestly say I had an amazing time while there. I will definitely be back!
